As we wrap up another year, I like to think about how quickly things have changed. A year seems long in the moment, but in the span of a lifetime, it is just a sliver of your story. I think about where I was a year ago: I was about to get married, I thought I had my future figured out and I thought that I was doing great. For 2016, I have realized I still have a lot to find out about my life, I have changed my futures path completely and I realized how much more there is to learn. None of that is bad though, it has shown me that life isn’t always what you think of it and I love that.
I have been extremely blessed this year with the opportunities to connect with influential people and to have my knowledge broadened. I have learned the power of reading and the strength behind humility. The little bit of success I have achieved (no more than a grain of sand on the ocean side), has been because of the insights I have received from the infinite sources of knowledge that surround us each and every day. Sure, I had to implement what I learned, but if I had kept my mind closed to new ideas and the real-life education – I would not be even close to where I am today.
I look forward to the end of 2017, when I look back on the past year and say to myself “Life now is so different from what you expected last year.”
Last year, I thought I would be solely focused on Quinnten & George Clothing and that it would become my baby. This year, I have realized that it was just the beginning. Last year, I thought that I wanted to go the accounting route, this year I have chosen to dive into the advertising/media industry to start off the new year. Last year I thought I couldn’t possibly love my wife any more than I did, this year my love for her has increased immensely.
These patterns of life are AWESOME! Some memories stick, others fade – but the memories and experiences of life never seize.
From the bottom of my heart, I wish you all A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. Take a minute to reflect on what you have learned this year and what you hope to achieve next year and begin now!
